- starting once again from the Pantile Bndge, buildings began just opposite Holly Road where there are none today. These included...the old fire station which was a tall red brick erection with a Dutch gable, and large red double doors. In the yard at the rear there was a tall rack used for drying the hoses
- 1915 onwards: The widening of the High Street to accommodate double track tram lines had swept away “Whitehall” cottages, the old fire station and several more barns and cottages |
